Frequently Asked Questions

Are pets allowed?

We love animals, but pets are not allowed at Carillon Historical Park. Service animals are always welcome. A service animal is a dog individually trained to perform tasks for a person with a disability. It must:

– Remain under your control (on a leash or other restraining device)
– Behave appropriately at all times
– Be limited to one per guest

We cannot take custody of your service animal. While riding the train or carousel, your service animal must stay on the floor of the ride vehicle — not on a seat — and fit comfortably there. Questions or need help? Please stop by the front desk.

Are wheelchairs or electric scooters available?

A small number of wheelchairs are available at our admission desk. We do not offer electric scooters.

Is the campus handicap accessible?

Because of the historic nature of certain buildings, some areas of Carillon Historical Park may have limited wheelchair access. The Carillon Park Railroad and the Carousel of Dayton Innovation are fully accessible. Manual wheelchairs are available on-site, free of charge, based on availability.

Is the train handicap accessible?

An accessible row is available in the second carriage, with a ramp to make boarding and exiting easier.

Can I take photos or video at the park?

Photography and video recording are welcome for personal use. For information about commercial photography or photo usage, please contact the Marketing Department at 937-293-2841, ext. 126. All photographers and videographers — personal or commercial — must follow the guidelines outlined in the Dayton History Photography Policy .

Is parking free?

Parking at Carillon Historical Park is typically free. There may be a parking fee during special events.

Do I need admission to enjoy Culp’s Café or Carillon Brewing Co.?

No admission fee is needed to dine at Culp’s Café or Carillon Brewing Co.

Can I drive through the Park?

For everyone’s safety, vehicle access is not permitted within the Park campus. This policy ensures a safe, enjoyable experience for all guests and families.

Do I need to buy tickets in advance?

Tickets can be purchased at the front desk — no advance purchase required. For a faster entry, you can buy tickets ahead of time to skip potential lines and head straight to your destination.

Are you a part of National Park Service?

Dayton History is proud to own and operate two units of Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park: the Wright Brothers National Museum and Hawthorn Hill, Orville Wright’s success mansion. As a privately funded nonprofit, Dayton History receives no ongoing operational federal funding,
